ROBERT HANLON

Preston Cutler Room

MAY & JUNE 2019

In 1960, while his father’s construction company was building the new Christ Church sanctuary, Robert  went to the cinema and saw the new Disney film, Swiss Family Robinson. It made such an impression that he scavenged lumber from the old coal bin in the cellar and built a three-story tree house. This was the beginning of a career remaking old material into buildings, furniture, paintings and sculpture. The pieces in this show are presented “as found”, with little or no alteration.
